FAQ

How far in advance do I need to book?

Key dates for Christmas season and weekends in wedding season (May through September) tend to book-up early. It’s a good policy to lock down your key services (venue, entertainment, caterer, florist, photographer, cake, church etc.) at least 6 months in advance if possible. Some premium venues like the Brock House in Point Grey or the Minoru Chapel in Richmond book-up well over a year in advance! An added benefit of early bookings is that many service providers offer “early booking incentives” which can shave considerable dollars off of your wedding costs.

I’ve been to weddings in the past where the DJ seemed only interested in playing “his own music” and would not take requests. Is this normal?

Some DJ’s build their reputation around playing specific types of music (rave dj’s, club dj’s etc.) and can be quite inflexible about playing requests. Be sure to ask your prospective dj service about their policy on playing client requests. Our mandate is to play as many of the guest’s requests as possible in a timely manner and with the emphasis on keeping the dance floor full.

What happens if a song clears the dance floor? Will the DJ allow the song to continue, or fade into a new selection?

Our dj’s are trained to blend the music into a different style or rhythm as quickly as possible if the dance floor has cleared. Usually the best option is to switch to a popular slow-dance, which will generally bring the dancers right back. By far the most common customer comment from our clients is “Your DJ kept the dance floor full all night long!…thanks for a wonderful time!”

How can I be sure that the DJ will arrive on time?

We’ve built our huge referring client base on quality customer service, which starts with being meticulously prompt. Early equipment pick-up (usually two hours before contracted guest arrival) is standard on all events which ensures that the DJ will have the appropriate music playing (according to your specifications) well in advance of guest arrival. This also means that the sound levels and microphones (if required) are already set at appropriate levels so as to provide a smooth, seamless service from start to finish.

What type of format do you carry your music on – how well is it organized?

We use traditional CD audio format with a library of music extending over 3,000 songs spanning over a dozen genres.

At each event, we have a Guest Book containing all our songs organized by Artist. We find this makes it easier for guests to make requests.
